Oracle is the best known for selling huge and costly business software and databases, but at its annual customer conference in San Francisco, cloud was the major topic for discussion. Now most of the software development companies are subscribing to software hosted in someone else's data centers, a model known as software-as-a-service rather than buying expensive software and installing programs on computers. Businesses are getting computing capacity from Oracle' competitors companies like Amazon AMZN and Microsoft MSFT to get rid of maintaining and operating their own data centers. Oracle has decided to spend 80% of corporate IT budgets cloud services because Oracle knows that companies are using cloud technology.
